Hello Veterans and Veterans Supporters. June was an extremely busy month, and I appreciate all the activities, events, and support from our Chapters and Members. We were attempting to get a Webcast in at the end of the month but simply ran out of runway. In July we have a very informative Mental Health and Veterans Affairs event coming up with more information coming out next week. In summary, here is the event details, and we hope you can join us for this informative discussion:

Date / Time: Jul 13, 2021 12:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)

Topic: AT&T Veterans – Mental Health Programs and Benefits

Description:

1200-1205: Introductions

1205-1220: Military One Source Mental Health Programs Overview

1220-1235: Veterans Affairs Mental Health Programs Overview

1235-1300: Q&A

And, you may have heard through other sources, that we recently held our Executive Board elections for 3 positions that rotate this year – CEO, CRO, and CFO. I would like to congratulate the following on their elections to the 2022-2023 term:

CEO / President – David Rhoads

CFO – Robert Cardarelli

CRO – Kris Adams

This is a serious commitment of time and passion to lead and further our support of Veterans and their families. I appreciate and commend each of them for their sense of duty and give back to the Veteran community. Congratulations David, Robert, and Kris!

As you may know, it is a taxing process to reach a decision of commitment to pursue an executive board position. There is serious commitment demanded, and the outcomes possibly unknown. Making the decision to put your name in the hat must be one of careful consideration, and the rewards can be tremendous both to the candidate and to the Veterans Community. Given that context, and the serious thought it takes to engage at the National Board level, I would like to acknowledge and thank the following candidates for participating in our election process:

Matt Foster – CEO Candidate

Brian Hyland – CFO Candidate

Your passion and commitment to our Veterans Employee Resource Group is evident in your application and desire to further serve our Veteran community. THANK YOU Matt and Brian for engaging in the process, and I look forward to your continued engagement and pursuit of leadership positions and engagement within our team.

And again, you may have seen these announcements through other channels, but I would like to highlight them here. Our 2020 Chapter, member, and National Staff member recognitions were voted on, and the winning programs and members are here:

Chapter of the Year: Florida/Virgin Islands/Puerto Rico

Most Improved Chapter of the Year: New Jersey / Pennsylvania

National Program of the Year: Wreaths Across America

Local Program of the Year: Florida Chapter and Dinontas Corporation Partnership (Making a Difference)

Management Member of the Year: Ron Cimo

Officer / National Staff Member of the Year: Kris Adams

Congratulations to the members of the well deserving winning Chapters – Florida / Virgin Islands / Puerto Rico / New Jersey / Pennsylvania; Program – Wreaths Across America; and to Ron and Kris. You have each displayed excellent dedication and commitment to our mission and values, and these are reflected in your commitment and support of our Veteran community. Well Done and Congratulations!

And finally, I would like to encourage you all to remember that Freedom is not Free this holiday weekend. Take time to enjoy some time off this holiday weekend. And also reflect on our country’s Day of Independence, recognized on the 4th of July, and what it takes to maintain that independence and the subtleties represented in the “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” that can be so elusive. Many have given their life in this noble endeavor, we still have work to do on our journey as a country, but the sacrifice it took to enable this independence should never be forgotten.

Thank you for all you do, and your continued Veteran support.

Jeff
